About the NC Potters Conference
Now hosted by the North Carolina Pottery Center, the NC Potters Conference is one of the Southeast’s premier ceramics events. Since its founding, the conference has showcased skilled ceramic artists from around the country and world. What makes our conference special is its format: simultaneous demonstrations that foster open dialogue about techniques, concepts, and experiences between artists and audience. Unlike other conferences, participants don’t have to choose between workshops—everyone shares the same demonstrations and presentations as a group. Potters of all skill levels leave with fresh ideas, new techniques, and renewed inspiration to enhance their work.
Our 2027 Theme: Many Paths, Shared Practice!
Many Paths, Shared Practice explores the ways knowledge is formed, shared, and sustained through clay. Demonstrating artists and speakers will not only reflect on how they teach—across classrooms, studios, and community spaces—but also share practical techniques, processes, and tips from their own making. From foundational skills to personal approaches, this theme highlights the intersection of pedagogy and practice, sharing with attendees both how to make and how to teach through clay.
